Love this. Lots of minerality, oily citrus pepper mint and a little smoke. Great overproof for the price.
• Visual: Clear w/ very thin clear edge • Initial Nasal Impact: Slightly warming • Aroma: Lime citrus, cooked agave, floral, pepper, wintergreen mint, vanilla. Light aroma • Mouthfeel: Oily w/ sufficient alcohol • Flavor: Pepper, lime, honey, wintergreen mint, vanilla, cinnamon, cucumber • Finish: Mint hits on the retro nasal along with pepper and cucumber during long finish. A very drinkable HP blanco
Good, not o. Top of my list of HP
Nice pearls on the pour. Nose is ethanol, earth, and agave. A bit hot in the mouth this must be higher in proof than several of the previous samples. This is nicely balanced between nose, taste and finish with more acidity than the rest of the samples. Long finish…I like it.
Blind: Grassy and earthy. Will have to revisit.
A very nice HP, cinnamon, mint, herbal notes. A nice punch of sweet cooked agave.
Excellent aroma. Big agave and not too punchy, though on a deep sniff it intensifies nicely. Grass, minerals, excellent. Excellent flavor. Agave, green, mint. The finish is long and clean. Minty agave is giving me an eye opening, mouth breathing happy ending.
Nose: Chock full of Agave, Anise, Citrus, White Pepper, some vegetal notes and a bit of minerality. Did I mention LOTS of cooked agave?! Mouthfeel: Full bodied and buttery Taste and finish: Sweet cooked agave The finish has more Anise, Black pepper and minerality but I have to mention again, that cooked agave REALLY comes on powerful on this one. Possibly a little mint on the very tip of the back end of the finish. Loved it!
Grassy note and a lot of earth / vegetal on the palate with a strong pepper finish. Not bad but don’t love it
Tasted at vivanco rudys bday trip april 2023 notes: Still strength 50.5 Fruit in low nose Nice sweet, easy to sip. Doesn't drink like 50.5 rated 88 pts will revisit and update notes 10/2024 tried as part of TMM blind high-proof tasting. rated 90 pts. adjusting my rating to 89 (avg between my 2 tastings)
Nose - cooked agave, citrus, grapefruit, orange alcohol, brine Palette- Agave, black pepper, brine, citrus, anise Finish - cooked agave, anise, pepper
Lot 1 and Lot 2 score equally IMO
A lot of hype around this release. Their 40abv blanco is solid and thought it was a good idea to start with it to open the palate. Very, very solid blanco and I enjoyed it once again. Now to the HP- Nose- agave, salted butter, mint, earth, a touch of cinnamon with some sweetness Palate- punch of agave, brine, black pepper, minerals and medium viscosity Finish- some heat in the gums and notes linger beautifully on the tongue. This is very, very enjoyable. Yes, this is a good one. Glad I grabbed a bottle. Will grab a second one for sure. Nice work Sergio!
Sometimes you wait with anticipation for something and when it comes, you’re disappointed. Nocturna was something I eagerly awaited but I am happy to say it did not disappoint. I tasted this in a Riedel Tequila glass. The nose, while not overpowering, is agave forward with earthiness and minerals. I definitely get citrus fruits. I also get a touch of smoke that most likely came from fermentation as opposed to actual smoke. The taste is OMG good. The high ABV influence works to produce an explosion of agave and cinnamon. The taste also gives earthy notes, pepper, orange peel, anise, mint, and a touch of that smokiness found on the nose. The finish is outstanding. It lingers across the entire palate with a nice creamy mouthfeel. From what I know, the Nocturna uses just one of the two blanco distillations that the 40ABV Jaguar uses, the one with the fibers. Great choice. This is a grand slam by Sergio Cruise in my opinion.
Nose: agave cooked/ earth / minerals/ pineapple/ banana/ grapefruit/ lemongrass/ spearmint/ orange blossom / tiny hint of smoke/tobacco Taste: sweet agave and cinnamon BOMB!!! / earth/ pepper/ minerals/ banana/ pear / green apple / grapefruit/ spearmint/ anise / Finish: superb!!! Watery wet with clean bright crisp finish / lingering sweet agave and cinnamon that is exceptionally delicious / minty sweet final finish. This high proof blanco from Mozart de Tequila, Sergio Cruz, via NOM 1414 actually lives up to the hype. This juice is amazing! I couldn’t put it down….5 pours in and I’m enjoying it more each sip.
Fruity, bright citrus, agave, sweet & spicy, jalapeño on nose, nice minerality, wet paper notes or even cement, silky mouthfeel, everything a tequila should be! Awesome sipper!
Aroma: very floral, almost perfume like. Hints of cardamom, minerality, and citrus with a nice punch of mint. Flavor: cooked agave, minerality, a hint of smokiness, orange rind, and mint Finish: medium in length. Almost no burn. Very nice oily texture.
This high proof from Alma del Jaguar surpassed my expectations. I enjoyed their blanco offering, but this Nocturna took it up a notch. On the nose, a healthy waft of cooked agave followed by bright citrus, and floral terpenes. The palate included cooked agave, soil, slight yeast, subtle anise, licorice, citrus, and minerality. I found a notable amount of smoke on the back palate, along with light black pepper. A mid to long finish rounds out an outstanding new offering from Alma del Jaguar.
This is another solid offering from ADJ. full of flavor and priced very reasonably. I’m loving this bottle.
amazing... the wild yeast is the trick
Nose Citrus flowers mint vegetal agave bell pepper Taste agave orange blossom, it’s warm, got black pepper, little earthiness more like minerals It’s real nice, easy sipper
AJBCO24171, bottled on 22/10/24, tasted on 1-25-25. Aroma: cooked agave, light acidity, light green vegetal notes, light earthiness, after 20 minutes in the glass a hint of pepper spiciness and light fruity aromas emerge. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, good sweet sour and citrus balance. Finish is medium to long, light cooked agave, light green vegetal notes, hint of fruitiness with a hint of earthy note persists.
Nose is cooked agave, citrus, pepper and minerals. Taste is cooked agave, pepper, mint and minerals. The glass was a Chisholm High Proof Jarrito.

There is a lot going on with this one with lots of little subtleties of different aromas and flavors. With the exception of this being very agave, citrus and cinnamon forward high proof. Once those fade you get a lot of other notes that make their way in. Nose: cooked agave, orange citrus, cinnamon, black pepper, anise, minerals, vegetal, and herbal. Palate: cooked agave, citrus, cinnamon, black pepper, anise, mint, minerals, vegetal, and herbal. For being a high proof, this one has little to no heat behind it. Let it open up for about 15 minutes to let all of those notes come into play and enjoy.
