Tasted blind at Dustin’s Fuerte Fiesta! I love el Pandillo stuff and I’m a bit perplexed as to why I didn’t LOVE this one. It’s good but not super great for me. I should come back and spend some time with it. Good but underwhelming.
$70 in San Francisco Aroma: 23 but could be convinced to go 24 Sweet cooked agave with plenty of ripe juicy fruit Palate: 28 Silky velvet mouth feel with plenty of heft. Vegetal sweet cooked agave with a pleasant olive note. Front palate is vegetal which then turns sweet into the mid palate and backends up spice. Finish: 23 Great length, density and depth. Value: 8 For $70 in San Francisco, I bought 3 bottles and could not be more happy with it. Strong value for this quality. I was tempted to increase to a 9 but kept it at a strong 8
This has to open up, solid and delicious. Pepper, citrus, cinnamon, long finish
Vegetal grass on the nose. Nice creamy palate and finish. Not bad but prefer Lote 1
Tasting Lot 3 that a friend bought at the distillery. Nice, oily legs in the glass. Aroma of cooked agave is at the forefront. Followed by citrus, herbal, vegetal and anise. At 45% ABV, I thought I might get alcohol, but no. Flavor of cooked agave, butter, citrus, vegetal and herbal. Pleasant, long finish.
Lote 3 is very special to us because we were at the distillery the day it was bottled, the day of the eclipse, Apr 8, 2024. Lote 3 has more barrel spice and Lote 1 has more anise. Both are really good. Lote 1 slightly edging out Lote 3 for me. Felipe always does it right!
So for me, lot 3, is extremely good. I am tasting a neck crack so chances are I will update this later. I prefer lot 2 as its flavors come out a little more and there is less alcohol on the nose and palate. This has a great nose of agave and pepper. I find this herbal with a hint of brine and olive. Taste is sweet agave followed by black pepper. Lots of minerality. It is vegetal and finishes with alcohol. I really think this will gain a point or two after a few weeks.
In addition to the signatura G4 cooked agave, this Lot 3 Madera is packed with minerality, grass, fruit, lots of natural sweetness and a touch of pepper. Update: I poured a second glass which tastes even better! In this, strong vegetal notes dominated aroma and early sips. It’s so sweet and complex. Absolutely delicious!
Nose - cooked agave, mins, lemon/citrus grass Taste - agave, brine, black pepper with an excellent mouth feel Finish - lingering agave on the pallet, a long faint pepper finish
LOTE 3 and another banger from G4! N- Huge blast of agave and minerals up front. Some lemon, and some herbal and grassy notes as well T- Cooked agave, brine, black pepper, herbs. Hardly any alcohol heat considering the higher proofing. MF- Oily F- Medium in length and damn near perfect V- $70 in Michigan makes this an excellent value considering the quality of this juice
On the nose I was hit with an agave bomb, citrus fruit, vegetal notes(peppers), subtle mint and anise(earthy tones emerged after letting it rest). Upon first sip I immediately was bombarded by the agave bomb detected on the nose followed by minerals, anise, jalapeño, black pepper, grass and some spice. The palate is continuously evolving the more I taste, I’m sure there will be more notes to come. The length and depth of the finish on this expression is nothing short of extraordinary. This is, without a doubt, my favorite tequila that I’ve tasted from El Pandillo.
Another great release. Agave, minerals, citrus, vegetal, alcohol, grass and more. It literally has it all!
Nose: cooked agave, citrus, black pepper, floral, mint, earthy, pine, and sweetness Flavor: cooked agave, black pepper, earthy, citrus, spice, and creamy mouthfeel Finish: long, some agave, and the pepper hangs on
A very enjoyable sipper with great aromas and tons of agave. Nose: cooked agave, minerals, black pepper, citrus, grass, herbal, brine, mint. Palate: cooked agave, black pepper, minerals, citrus, butter, anise, vegetal. Such an amazing blanco with a nice long finish.
This is so good I am lost for descriptors...agave, agave, agave is what comes to mind.
The aroma presents a faint cashew nuttiness, initially searing with ethyl tones that mellow significantly by the third night allows the delicious scents of petrichor, wood, grassy herbal characteristics, and slight tangy citrus tones to blend harmoniously. Letting it sit in the glass reveals an identifiable cooked agave prune note. On the palate, the flavor is warm and inviting. Soft nuttiness and cooked agave with subtle prune and raisin notes combine with a delicious buttery toast, cinnamon, and peppermint. Light lemon citrus, a flash of baked sweet potato, plum, minerality, fresh cut pencil shavings, black pepper, and palatable brine is quite flavorful. The finish is marked by a soft earthy exit, with a deliciously clinging buttery texture and brine. Faint minerality and the ghostly presence of grassiness rise towards the dying finale.
The nose is heavily influenced with mineral, alpine aromas, and cooked agave mildly herbaceous with hints of mint and thyme. Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, very creamy, oily, buttery taste with some floral and vegetal traces. Finish: Wow! Cooked agave, pine, white pepper, black pepper, anise and possibly honeydew on the finish. All the while, the sweetness is very prevalent here and let's the spirit down soft and gently.
08/04/2024 LG0003B45ME Nose: sweet and cooked agave, slight fresh wood, grassy Taste: cooked agave, citrus Finish: sweet agave, earthy, pine, astringent One of a kind
Another delicious one from G4. Strong complex aroma. Earthy/hay/wood, vegetal, peppery, agave. Flavor is agave forward with a nice looong peppery finish. A nice lingering earthy/agave aftertaste. Highly recommend.
Aroma: pure cooked agave, white & black pepper, earthy, but vegetal - almost herbaceous with a faint nutty/woody smell. A touch of minerality, but not akin to the blanco expression. Such a complex nose. May be the best aroma I’ve rated. Flavor: agave bomb, good amount of light peppery notes (not overpowering), earthy and vegetal. The flavor matches the nose but the pepper really shines through and the minerality takes a back seat. Still a bit of a soft woody taste which is nice. Balanced mouth feel and a nice long finish. The heat comes through but isn’t overpowering - perfect balance of punchy flavors but not overpowering the agave. I had this bottle tucked away for a special occasion. I’m over halfway through the bottle but haven’t rated it. I remember now why I love this expression so much. It’s a beautiful take on their incredible blanco. It’s complex but approachable. A pure expression of agave. Nice, light heat, packed full of flavor yet nuanced for G4 - they’ve really managed to create something unique. Highly recommend if you can find it.
Love the richness of this Blanco. Very agave forward with a nice bite. Subtle minerality with some fruity notes. Grabbed an extra bottle at $69
Been trying to get my hands on any form for Madera for quite some time now. This is the 2024 Lot #3 On the nose, cooked agave is there but with very crisp and clean presence. Almost indescribable. Minerality for the nose is also present with some vegetal undertones to close out. Palate is simply wonderful. Again, clean crisp cooked agave that I’ve rarely experienced across all my tastings/reviews. A bit of oiliness on the mouth feel which is nice. Nice peppery finish.
Aroma: Sweet agave, pepper, & citrus Taste: Sweet sweet agave, pepper, citrus, & cinnamon Finish: long lasting with minerals & grass Cost $70 Great premium blanco at a reasonable price. I will be buying more bottles.
Just superb. Not much else to say. Just about the best sipping blanco you can get your hands on. Abundantly sweet cooked agave mixed with pepper, minerals, and herb (I’m detecting mint?). Some citrus in the finish. Makes for a uniquely great sipping experience. 1579 produces some excellent products and this is one of their very best. Priced slightly above some other premium blancos but who cares. It’s absolutely worth the $70-$80 tag.

Shared characteristics 2024 lots: Nose: Intensely sweet cooked agave. There’s a sharp, almost acidic edge that leans into a subtle sourness, which transitions into a faint green olive note. It’s punchy, with a raw and vegetal undertone that adds character. Mouthfeel & Palate: Rich and coating, with a full, satisfying mouthfeel. The agave sweetness carries through heavily, balanced by a bit of heat that builds as you sip. There’s a slight bite that activates the palate and hangs in a pleasant, tingly way. Finish: Long and persistent. The warmth sticks around, giving a slow fade that keeps the flavors alive well after the sip. That lingering heat works nicely with the agave forward profile. Final Thoughts: A bold, expressive and memorable blanco that makes an impression. The intensity of the agave and the long lasting finish make this one worth revisiting. Tasting five different lots of G4 Madera side by side was a great reminder of how much variation you can find within a consistent, well made profile. The core elements held across every pour; rich agave sweetness, the full mouthfeel and the long, lingering finish - but each lot brought its own subtle shifts in tone and texture. Lot 1 leaned more vegetal, with a slightly greener profile compared to the others. It stayed true to the cooked agave core but added a more herbal layer that gave it a grounded, earthy feel. Lot 2 amped up both the sweetness and the heat. It came off a little bolder than Lot 1. Hotter on the palate and a touch more sugary, giving it a punchier overall profile. Lot 3 was the standout. It softened the heat from Lot 2 and introduced a rounder, creamier mouthfeel. There was a distinct salty toffee quality here that added a nice layer of complexity. It felt balanced, expressive, and the most complete of the group. Lot 4 took a quieter approach. It shared the softness of Lot 3 but was more muted across the board. The sweetness was less defined…harder to pin down with a light, almost melon like tone in the background. Pleasant, but less vivid. Lot 5 brought a touch more energy back. The heat ticked up slightly from Lot 4, and the salinity dialed back in, closer to what was present in Lot 3. Not quite as polished, but definitely more alive. Final Thoughts: Each lot felt like a variation on a familiar theme. Lot 3 was the most dialed in for me, followed by Lot 5 for its balance of salinity and presence. The rest were interesting in their own right, with Lot 1’s vegetal profile and Lot 2’s sweetness offering nice contrast. It’s a testament to how layered and dynamic G4 Madera can be, even when the foundation stays the same, the details keep it engaging. List of preference: Lot 3 Lot 5 Lot 1 Lot 2 Lot 4
