This is a controversial tequila that caused quite a buzz because of the ratings it got on a TMM blind. The big problem with the general tequila community is that it is diffuser juice Well partially. They do use a Tahona and also ferment with and without fibers. It has a nice nose with cooked agave and citrus, specifically lime. It actually has a bouquet of various Italian spices. On the palate, it is nice and sweet with pepper. Again, citrus comes through. A bit fruity. A touch of alcohol on the finish. Yes, I would recommend this and would absolutely drink it again.
Not bad for the price, it’s a good mixer alternative
Smells good, lots of bright agave. Tastes like the real thing. Reminds me of being out at night in mexico, meaning there’s a little sun baked barrio aroma on the side, but in a good way. It’s familiar and something new at the same time. I dont think this will be my last bottle, especially at the price point. Salud!
Aroma/Taste: Aromas of cooked agave, limestone, lime, and savory herbs like rosemary and sage, with hints of cola creating a delightful scent. On the palate, flavors of cooked agave are accompanied by a balance of white pepper sweetness and black pepper spiciness, complemented by refreshing notes of fresh mint and basil. Finish: The finish, although somewhat hot, delivers a pleasing sweetness at the end, completing the tasting experience on a satisfying note. Overall: Tasted blind, this blanco tequila impresses with its well-balanced profile, offering a harmonious interplay between sweetness and heat. A delightful choice for those seeking a balanced and flavorful blanco.
nose- right to the point. Some cooked agave and minerality Taste- agave, citrus, and a hard punch of anise in the middle. Not off putting just there. and a nice peppery finish that has a long finish on the tongue Definitely an easy sipper.
whiff of cooked agave, combined with green apples, pears - but all is "muted" in end flavor is slightly bland, bit of lemon, fruit/citrus is there at beginning but does not carry-thru finish is little peppery, little heat
Nose: Aromas of raw agave, asparagus, bleu cheese, overall quite funky.. Palate: Clean, with nice mouthfeel - a sweet cream, malolactic palette with a buttery profile towards the finish. Finish: Nice, elongated finish to be had here. A bit more peppery with hints of tropical fruit. Notes of baking spices, banana, and papaya. Overall: A little bit more heat on the backend, but overall nice flavor profile. Had a little bit of a unique sweetness to it that should be noted, agave driven that comes across almost like a sweet-yeasty baked good.
A bit of an unusual aroma for a blanco. Dusty soil, even a bit of sawdust. A hint of artichoke perhaps. Flavor is also a surprise with cedar, a little honey, more of that sawdust vibe, and a little sulphur. Finish reveals some citrus that I don’t get much of in the initial attack.
Acrid aroma initially that fades to some grassy notes after a few minutes. This has a nice viscosity leaving tears up and down the glass and on entry has a nice roast agave sweetness along with pepper and some loud ethanol notes. The finish gives a good side tongue buzz and fades to lingering sweetness. Tasted blind for 2024 AF under 40 buck Blanco tasting. While the score may seem high for a tahona-diffuser hybrid product, you must remember this is scored in relation to the other 5 Blancos presented. This rated 3rd of the 6 for me with Tapatio and Tres Agaves surpassing this.
TMM additive free blind. Muted nose and vegetal palate. It was spunky. Had a bitter palate and finish to me.
Rated blind. Hay, grass, sweet agave, and pepper. Extra points for value.
tasted as part of tmm blind apr 2024. I rated it lower but added a few points for value tasting notes: thick slow legs, strongest nose of all the expressions in the blind thus far (e.g. stronger than arette, Cimarron and 30-30). grassy, minerality, less to no malolactic notes ***there's a weird bitter taste that I couldn't define during the blind tasting. after learning what this product is and how it's produced, i think the diffuser may be causing the bitterness I couldn't define because I don't drink diffuser tequila
Score is from a recent Blind TMM Additive Free Blanco Tasting Kit. Aroma: Very different than anything I can remember trying before. There’s a sweet floral aroma at first that’s followed by apple and tart cherry. There’s also an aroma that reminds me of a sotol I’ve tried. It’s earthy in a way. There’s a lot going on that it’s almost overwhelming. Flavor: that tartness that reminds me of cherry pie is present. It’s so weird. I’ve never had a blanco that tastes like this. There’s also some cinnamon and citrus. A little bit of cooked agave. Overall it’s very subtle and neutral in a way. Finish is very short. Very watery mouthfeel.
Crisp on the nose. Stone forward with hints of sweet lavender? Super light mouthfeel. Stark contrast to #3 this feels like im drinking water when i have them side by side Tastes Vegetal, celery
The aroma is cooked agave with a hint of black pepper and a smaller touch of lime. The flavor profile goes throughout the product. The finish is that of an easy drinker/sipper which tequila drinkers of all experiences can enjoy. 2 other comments…..1, Set aside the mini-controversy of the use of a diffuser. This is an enjoyable tequila at a good price. 2, I don’t get the anise that a few reviewers mentioned. Anise can be such a divisive flavor, this is a time to not let that review dissuade you.
Aroma: agave, citrus, pepper, minerals Taste: agave, citrus, apple/pear, pepper Finish: quick and smooth follow through Overall: I’ll add this to my favorite list of budget friendly tequilas that are great by themselves or in a cocktail. Definitely one that should be in your bar.
Great value, additive free blanco for mixing or shooting
Bottle: L-DO-BCO-001, 121923 09:16 Appearance: Clear Nose: Cooked agave, fruity, banana, maraschino cherry, green apple, brown sugar, butter, black pepper, cinnamon, minerality, limestone, anise, rosemary, and grass…definitely opened up with a little time Palate: Cooked agave, cinnamon, brown sugar, butter, lactic, vegetal, basil, lemon, cedar, green apple, and grass…very sweet Finish: Alcohol, brown sugar sweetness, butter, and cinnamon…short and fleeting with a thin mouthfeel Overall: The nose really improved after the neck pour, but, sadly, the finish did not. Instead of feeling like there was a cohesive profile, I felt like this was a “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” kind of alternation between ‘really good’ and ‘meh’ throughout. For the price, this would make a really good mixer. But, for the same price, I’m grabbing something else to sip on. Time to move ‘Onda’ something else.
Aroma: agave, pepper, mint, fruity, citrus Palate: agave, pineapple, pepper Finish: is nice and easy to drink Me sorprendió mucho este tequila para el precio es un muy buen tequila Update: After a few weeks I tried it again and it gave me a bitter aftertaste
Something about the finish does not agree with my palate. Value for sure, but I won’t be using it.
NOM 1607 Nose: spearmint, brine, sweet agave, vanilla Taste: mint, earthy, agave, oily on the tounge, sweet Finish: hot, cinnamon, baking spice, bitter
Clean on the nose… fruit and grassy. Initial blast of sweetness on the tongue, oily and buttery at first, then switches to an anise bitterness with some mint on the finish. For $30 I am not disappointed.
Overpowering alcohol flavor
This tequila has genuinely exceeded my expectations. Emphasizing its drinkability, affordability, and widespread availability is essential. The aficionados tend to draws comparisons to renowned brands like Fortaleza, But they shouldn’t not many people out there can find or afford the markup/hype it has made. Consider its overall appeal – an additive-free tequila that strikes an excellent balance, all within the reasonable price range of 25-30 dollars. This discovery embodies not just value but a nuanced and enjoyable tequila experience. Cheers to uncovering such a gem in the world of spirits!
