Good barrel nose on this anejo with a well balanced agave and barrel flavors. Nose: cooked agave, vanilla, caramel, butterscotch, oak, and butter. Palate: cooked agave, black pepper, butterscotch, caramel, and some oak. Not a complex anejo by any means but really easy and enjoyable to sip.

Nice nose. Sweet agave, vanilla and caramel. Fruity. The palate on this one is better than the blanco and repo. The balance is better. Sweet agave and barrel notes.

A bourbon aroma dominates upon opening. Barrel oak, whiskey notes, caramel and very low key peppery linger. Smooth and easy to sip.

Aroma: once I get past the initial hit of alcohol, there’s a pleasant caramel sweetness along with a healthy amount of oak. I also smell a little bit of vanilla and coconut Flavor: a surprising amount of black pepper followed by some oak, cooked agave, and citrus notes. Not overwhelmingly complex but not hard to drink either. Finish: very short and watery. Doesn’t leave a whole lot of flavor behind.

This was the least favorite of the expressions. Not much agave for me. Lots of sour barrel notes.

Aroma is agave with intense barrel notes. Hints of caramel and vanilla with a layer of earthiness. On the palate it’s agave forward, whiskey, barrel notes, spicy pepper, caramel, vanilla, cinnamon, and earthy like a nice gravel road going through a hay field. Finish is excellent- agave lingers with a nice silkiness and the whiskey barrel notes are emphasized with pepper and spice.

Holy Wow! Shattered my expectations. The Blanco and Repo are really good, but this is on a whole other level.
