I usually don’t care for French oak. This is a sweet tequila. Not sure if it is additive free. It is tasty but again maybe a bit too sweet for my liking.

This nose has some classic notes of French oak spice. That FO sweetness punches through as well. There’s some buttery cooked agave that sits behind that spice. That grape note from the blanco is still present along with some floral alcohol vapors. It’s a really pleasant FO Repo nose. - The spice hits first with a FO backbone. The spice is nice and warm and the FO provides that unique sweetness. The cooked agave creates the creamy mid palate and the FO spice accompanies some pepper to create the lingering finish. The alcohol provides some palate numbness which allows for easier subsequent sips. - 2017 Release from NOM1466, Estate grown Amatitán agave, Horno cooked, Roller milled, SS Fermentation w/o fibers, Proprietary yeast, Deep well water, SS Still, 40% ABV - French White Oak aged - AUSTIN TEXAS OWNED

The cool thing about Querendón Reposados is all of the information one needs to make a qualified buying decision is on the back label. The other cool part is that each release identifies the specific growing location. Currently El Arenal is in my glass, 7 months French oak, additive free and slow roasted in an Horno. The perfectly aged agave is slow roasted over 36 hours, which leaves a finish that lingers well beyond the first sip. Feels like you are drinking fine wine, with hints of baked cantaloupe, apricot, earth notes and hints of black pepper and cardamom spice. Flavors are further illustrated by a medium bodied mouthfeel and underlying notes of honey from the ripe agave on the finish. Right where the sweetness should be for an additive free Tequila. At $60 it over delivers for the price. Home run! Can’t wait until the Jocotepec is released. The 1st release from Amatitán was equally amazing, so I can only imagine Néstor Hernandez the Master Tequilero has outdone himself with the Jocotepec.

Aroma: This has a very unique aroma profile! It starts with this Sweet Agave that is backed by a little Alcohol Vapor. Vanilla and Oak play their complimentary role, being a Reposado. There is a Floral tone that mixes with a little Lemon. But this is where it takes a right turn. There is a distinct Grape note that sticks straight out. Very unique. Taste: Sweet Agave is picked up immediately. This is followed by the Grape that is picked up on the nose along with a nice Peppery flavor. The Vanilla and Oak play their supporting roles. And it has the Floral and Lemon for good measure. Finish: This ends with the Sweet Agave and Grape. And the Pepper rides this for a nice finish. TMM 86 Tequila Querendón Reposado
