For a tall pretty bottle, this one is fairly decent. Nice nose of sweet agave, oak, vanilla and cinnamon it is fruity and has a touch of chocolate. On the palate is is sweet, very sweet. If you are wanting to win over your Clase Azul friends, this may be the tequila that can do it. I also get vanilla and caramel. Some oak is definitely there. Cinnamon and fruity tastes with a touch of chocolate. As I said, this may be the bottle you go for at a club where your friends are digging the tall fancy bottles. This will kick their butts for sure.
So balanced. Sweet but not gross. Incredibly approachable and delicious. Fruity. Vanilla. Very little bite. This is what 1942 should taste like. Slightly bitter finish and high price holds it back a few points.
Aroma: Honey crisp apple, some very liga herbal notes, some light vanilla, clean but not very complex. Flavor: Very light and sweet cooked agave, a bit of baking spice, anise, some light vanilla, but perhaps slightly bland. Finish: A dry finish that combines anise, agave, some black pepper, with a sprinkle of cinnamon and vanilla.
Aroma/Taste – Right off the bat, I'm greeted by the comforting scent of cooked agave, intertwined with the richness of roasted pineapple and cherry. There's a surprising hint of licorice and baking spices, adding depth to the aroma. As I delve deeper, I uncover a delightful interplay of fruity sweetness and subtle almond notes. Finish – The finish echoes the initial impressions, with lingering notes of roasted pineapple and butterscotch. While I appreciate the warmth, I can't help but notice a slightly bitter edge in the final moments. Overall – This tequila boasts one of the most distinctive aromas I've encountered, and I found it quite enjoyable. However, the bitterness in the finish detracted slightly from the overall experience. Nonetheless, it offered a refreshingly different journey through flavor profiles.
Uncooked agave, oak, cinnamon, spices on the nose The barrel is overwhelming on the taste. Agave doesnt come through
Nose is french oak floral and rain water. Nice agave sweetness and some wood notes that turn to a mellow finish with some tip of tongue numbing. Tasted during the AF Reposado blind 2024.
Bright nose, tropical, citrus? Odd finish. Was not a fan of this one and price kills it. Tasted with AF 2024 Blind Repo.
Blind- Unique aroma: apple, floral, citrus, pear, orange blossom, mint Taste: agave, citrus, white pepper, pear
Overall - typical repo characteristic + attractive color/legs. Aroma - okay with some anise. Flavor - sweet . . . definitely vanilla + bit of cherry but maybe too sweet. Finish - vanilla lingers but not pronounced.
More of that straw hue in appearance. N- agave, white pepper, earth, olive, very little barrel influence T- baked agave, honey, vanilla, white pepper, mango, cinnamon MF- thin F- Spice fading to sweet. Long ending
Nose - Agave, Oak, brine, oil, hay, fruit, Taste - Agave, brine, vinegar, olive, oak, alcohol, mushroom not for me Tasting 2 Nose - Agave, oak, wet hay, mushroom, malolactic, vanilla, oil Taste - Agave, wet hay, brine, vinegar, olive, oak, alcohol, mushroom Tasting 3 Nose - Agave, oak, alcohol, hay, vanilla, pepper, metal Taste - Agave, minerals, alcohol, chemicals, fruits, honey, floral, this was one of the 2 toughest
Sorry, this, although it's a repo/anejo/XA blend, it comes through like an over oaked repo with more bourbon notes than agave. Overpriced at 180+. Hard pass from a mediocre brand. I do enjoy their limited run Blanco Smoke though. Not smokey at all, but agave forward.
Tacolicious SF, CA Class cup, not champagne Half full bottle $15 glass Light color, nice oily legs Aroma- cherry, new barrel, citrus, cooked agave, light pepper. Beauty balanced nose Taste - Oak, white pepper, very light licorice Medium finish on full body tequila. Excuse the cliffs notes review. I was also manhandling 2 boys.
Eye- light straw Nose- cooked agave(baking spices), Pitted fruit like plum and caramel Taste- nice agave, sweetness, crisp green apple, caramel, and barrel oak on the back that last. This has a nice fresh taste and still have depth.
Distillery tasting. Amazing looking bottle! I pick up funky fruit, oak and sweetness with a slight bitter finish. Have to knock some points for price on this one. 80 Separate blind rating: 80 Nice welcoming nose that’s a little fruity and floral. Flavors of agave, light spice, and strawberry Twizzler. As easy and pleasant drinker with some hidden flavors.
Aromas of sweet caramel, oak, cooked agave, plum, and lite Vanilla. Enjoyable sipper that ebbs and flows between a Reposado and an Anejo with caramel, cooked agave, and a little spice that fades quickly with a natural sweet finish. Although this bottle looks like it was designed for a night club, especially with the built-in battery operated light that emulates a volcano (nice touch), it’s additive-free! $149.99
Best expression in there line-up! Too bad it's only sold to restaurants/bars to my knowledge in the US per the rep at LA Tequila Festival '22.
I liked this blend alot, although the price is high. There maybe was something missing in here for me though. Without a doubt though...It's a solid sipper and additive free
Fancy bottle and all. A tri-blend of 3 expressions is still considered a Reposado. Slight heat, light Carmel and spice. Price point brings the score down, at $200 a bottle.
Notes of tropical dry fruit, soft vanilla, a touch of cinnamon with a velvety mouthfeel that carries through with the fruit (cherry, peach), toasted nuts, bitter chocolate and. light baking spices in the mouth. The short finish leaves you wanting another sip. Naturally semi sweet with a dry finish. Unusual for a luxury segment tequila in its complexity and natural sweetness. Very enjoyable.
There’s some vanilla in the aroma, but not over-the-top. I also get some fruit (dried cherry), orange peel and toasted oak. It smells just like a barrel room. Flavor: Raisin, vanilla, dried fruit, butter. Mouthfeel is full and oily. Finish is pleasant and clean. This is a solid additive-free tequila in a fancy tall bottle… imagine that!
Nose is cooked agave, vanilla, caramel and oak. Taste is cooked agave, vanilla, and caramel. Price dropped I a couple of points. The glass was a Chisholm Standard Proof Jarrito.
Aroma: Agave, vanilla, with notes of fruit. Taste: sweeter than expectations. Well Balance of vanilla, caramel, fruit with a hint of agave. Finish: medium finish with sweetness left on the palate. Overall: $160 For the 2025 Las Vegas formula 1 edition. Good Tequila, sweeter than I prefer. Bottle will have a permanent spot on the shelf.
While aficionados tend to prefer blanco tequilas, and imbibers of dark spirits usually gravitate towards añejos, the reposado category is often overlooked.
