Intense barrel notes of raisin and whisky. A little too sweet.

A colleague of mine visited NOM1519 on 10-4-24 and was able to buy tequilas from this distillery only in generic bottles because they export all their production. He was told that the agaves used are from Guanajuato and that they are currently producing DesMaDre, Deleon & Reserva de Mexico brands. No lot code, 40% abv., tasted on 10-12-24. Color: dark brown. Aroma: sweet and smoked wood and wood barrel spices dominate, caramel, light chemical sensation, quite sweet, but of the unnatural kind. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, plastic and greasy sensation on the back of my tongue. Finish is medium to almost medium long, light plastic, caramel, smoked wood with unnatural sweetness persists.

This Bourbon barrel aged añejo exhibits strong Bourbon notes, with sweetness and oak flavors, likely appealing to Bourbon drinkers.

Nice golden amber color. Not very thick in the glass but tears and legs aplenty. Nose is a bit complex with cooked agave, oak and butterscotch. The longer it sits the more it opens up like most. Not a heavy mouth feel but the oak and whiskey from the barrel comes thru. Finish is a tad on the dry side and stays with you a little while.

Bourbon made out of agave. So sad.
