This is a sweet tequila but not overpowered by additives like other brands. You can easily detect them in the finish but the taste is mostly a very standard extra añejo without complexity. Would never turn down a glass but I would spend my money on other brands for sure.

Subtle May contain additives? Good tequila for whiskey lovers

Recieved this a gift over the holidays, after tasting many times prior to my review I have determined that this an excellent EA. The flavor of agave has not been lost in the aging process. The barrel comes though almost immediately, excellent agave, spice, chocolate and caramel flavors. On the finish is light pepper burn that does not linger. Price point is a bit high, but overall I really enjoy this Extra Anejo.

Excellent example of a fine XA, nice value compared other XA, can sip this all night. The right combination of sweetness and cooked agave

Sweet but delicious. Caramel, vanilla, soft agave, soft alcohol. Worth the price? Maybe.

Lovely sipping tequila. Hints of leather and tobacco, not overly oaked.

Aroma: It's very light and mellow to start with subtle hints of oak, cherry and is also slightly floral. But, as it opens up it gets much stronger and has a heavy butterscotch aroma with a slight coffee undertone. Flavor: Again, like the initial aroma it is very light. I get a slight hint of oak but the butterscotch definitely stands out as the most prominent flavor. It's very interesting. Usually XA's are a little too barrel heavy for my taste but this is so light and not overpowering at all.

Practically no oak in the aroma and clear notes of cherry, almond and flowers followed by mild butterscotch. The butterscotch and oak become more pronounced with some time in the glass. Nice opening spice flavor tamed by sweet butterscotch. Nice, long finish that lingers in the mouth. Much fuller and richer than the Crotalo. More of a "traditional" XA. UPDATED on 7/6 in side by side tasting with Crotalo Gran Reserva, Tears of Llorona and re-tasting of Diablito.

Nose: It absolutely smell Agave forward, but also of vanilla/almond fudge sweetness. Elegant and round oak aroma. Flavour: Agave, vanilla, oak, lite smoky and toasty/rusty. A bit hot. Finish: Agave, oak, tousty, light freshness of minerals. Short finnish.

Mexican 40% abv. version, lote: L1328JLOTE05796, bottled on 20-12-2021, tasted on 10-3-24. Gracias por compartirme esta botella mi amigo B.V.! Color: dark yellow to light brown. Aroma: light butterscotch, light sweet and spicy wood note, light burnt caramel, hint of mint which helps keep this XA fresh, cooked pears and apples, hint of light sweetened black tea. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, sweet but not cloying, through my retronasal I smell a whiff of soy bean note which reminds me of a 35 year old Scotch whisky from Benriach, my notes and points are from a tequila distillate standpoint. Finish is medium to almost medium long, light butterscotch, burnt caramel, cooked apples and pears with a whiff of soy bean aroma persists.

Aroma - vanilla, mineral, oakish, Flavor - light heat, metallic, Finish - peppery, whiskeys Something seemed a bit metallic/acidic in the flavor. Finish was sort of the same. This smelled sweet but tasted more like a whisky to me.

Vanilla, chocolate, oak are the three main flavors I immediately smell. On the mouth it feels viscous and sweet. Extraordinarily sweet and zero notes of agave.

Great caramel smell and taste. Nice color, smooth and easy to sip. Great for people coming from Whiskey. No underlying tequila character and lacks complexity of a Siete Laguas Anejo at half the price.
