Nose: caramel, sweet agave, white sugar, oak, honey Pallet: caramel, oak, barrel wood, honey, butterscotch Yum yum yum! This is an incredible añejo for under $100. Loved it from start to finish!

Tasted at Sip Tequila Fest I absolutely love the profile on this exceptional blend coming out of the Tequileña distillery. The Cabernet influence is apparent, this anejo is quite fruity. I found plum, apple, grape, honey, and dark chocolate. In addition to the wine barrel aging, white American oak is added to the blend which brought out flavors of vanilla, caramel & a hint of nuttiness. The finish was a bit tannic & drying, but lasted for quite some time. As much as I like this delicious wood driven anejo, the price has been steadily creeping up. If you’re willing to fork out the inflated price, go for it.

Second tasting/6 mo open - Beautiful nose: banana, lemon peel, nice toasted citrus notes, vanilla, caramel, cinnamon, some wood notes, just a bouquet of beautiful harmony of summer & winter notes. On pallet: nice pepper spice, barrel influence very apparent right away with vanilla/caramel notes, in the middle some of the fruit comes through, im getting light banana, very reminiscent of a tootsie roll, sweet/dark notes. Delicious mouth feel, med-long finish, great sipper if you see it.

Nose: agave / pepper / earth / butter / oak / banana / hay / tea / hint of tobacco / old leather/ whiskey Taste: agave cooked sweet/ caramel/ pepper/ hint of cinnamon/ spearmint/ hint of lime / orange peel / tea / baking spice / molasses/ alcohol Finish: the tastes of vanilla and pepper combine into a bittersweetness that rides on the watery clean mouthfeel. A small amount of alcohol burn on the last swallow. This anejo has some good flavor notes, but the bitterness and alcohol finish take this down a couple notches.

Really enjoyed this anejo. Well balanced between the agave and the barrel notes. Nose: cooked agave, oak, vanilla, caramel, cinnamon, chocolate, fruity, and some cherry. Palate: cooked agave, oak, vanilla, caramel, cinnamon, and chocolate. A great anejo and a must have on the shelf.

Not the biggest fan of extra anjeos but this has so much flavor and great mouth feel that it is definitely worth it.

Nose: One of my absolute favorite noses. Deep rich cooked agave with caramel and earth Flavor: Deep rich cooked agave follows into the palate. Mouth feel on point. Caramel evolves into a pleasant vanilla and oak

This is good. Maybe one top 5 Añejo's of all time. At first whiff, I got a stong nose of oak, honeysuckle, and almond. It went down very smooth with notes of Cooked agave, charcoal, burnt honey and oak. This is the tequila you bring to the party to cross your bourbon-drinking friends to the other side.

Damp wood and Christmas spice on the nose. Abruptly boozy at the beginning that mellows a tad in the finish, this is not for the week of heart. Perfect product to end an evening with. The big win here is the presence of agave under earth all that oak layering, this is a well made Tequila that will shine when presented to traditional whisky drinkers.

tasting at chris porters 10/22 artenom 1146 anejo this was at the end of tasting 10-12 other tequilas. I liked this but think it might be better on its own after opening up so will revisit at another time

The first hit on the aroma is caramelized plum, with secondary notes of brown sugar and vanilla. The flavor follows through with the same notes of brown sugar combined with baking spices, which come through strong and identifiable at the end. The finish is a burst of anise blended with cinnamon sticks, and a port wine sweetness.

Story: Añejo expression of the ArteNOM line, made in the same distillery as Tears of Llorona, Cimarron, Fuenteseca and Don Fulano. Aroma: Lots of pepper, touch of mint, fruity. Caramel and agave, definitely very prominent whiskey notes. Banana, very light ethanol. Vanilla when I tip my glass just right. A little water brings out butterscotch near the end. Wow, this aroma is very complex. Palate: Instantly hit with sweet caramel and pepper. Cooked agave, and that whiskey note coming through. I’m getting only a faint hint of vanilla, but it’s there. Definitely fruity, though I can’t pinpoint a specific fruit. Verdict: Interesting, a tasty tequila, and one I would recommend trying. It won’t be a staple in my bar, but when I’m looking for something fruity and peppery, I’ll reach for this.

Less oak aroma than I was expecting based on the dark color. Caramel, whiskey, leather, and a fruity cherry-like smell. Nice agave and slight oaky flavor with some caramel. I’m not good at judging short vs long finishes, but I like this caramel with low to medium heat finish. I get a slight bitter aftertaste of oak.

Fantastic stuff. Cherry, raisin, wet oak, stewed fruit, vanilla and caramel. Often referred to as “Baby Tears”, this is right up there with Tears of Llorona.

Blind tasting 3/19/2024 Aroma: wet soil, mulch, mushroom, cedar, barrel spice, clove, raisin Flavor: oak, dark chocolate, clove, burnt sugar Finish: medium length and dry Aroma is great. Flavor and finish leave a little to be desired but overall this is an excellent pour

The Anejo starts starts with with a dark amber color and a nice agave, grass and alcohol aroma. On the pallet- cooked agave, light pepper, punky wood and again a slight alcohol flavor. Outstanding lasting flavor, ever so slight peppery velvet smooth finish.

Nose: Initially I was hit with French oak and some lumberyard oak aromas. Given a little breathing time, rich sweet notes emerged: butterscotch, dark chocolate, vanilla, cafe con leche, and the slightest hint of maple. Herbal/earthy root cellar aromas, thyme and green pepper mingle with spicier notes of finely ground white pepper, orange rind, nutmeg, cloves and powdered ginger. A pleasing marriage of scents. Flavor: Spicy zing enveloped in sweet, buttery, agave richness. Caramel, toffee and almond paste. Grapefruit zest and oranges. Lots of facets... Finish lingers.

Balanced, not overly sweet. Agave and oak showing well together. Big mouth feel, strong barrel notes, Carmel, cooking spice. Well balanced

Aroma : Vanilla, caramel, and light cinnamon. There is also some oak, orange, and butter. Taste : Lots of oak, along with some chocolate, toffee and berry fruitiness. Light butter and orange here as well. This is a good balance between sweet and spicy, while still letting you get the full complexity of each side. Finish : Long with stronger notes of vanilla, berry, and oak. There is a lot going on here. It's obvious there is a ton of complexity with this one to the extent that if someone told me this was an extra añejo, I'd probably believe them. Some may find the oak overpowering, but that's why you have to give tequilas like these time to open up, otherwise you'll miss out.

Another 1146 gem. I Always keep one in my stash. ArteNom came out strong out of the gate w/ their 1079 release. This is Agave forward with notes of candied walnuts, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla, yams, mocha, leather, with a hint of smoke. Kinda goes down like an XA. Damn solid stuff.
