High-proof tequilas, once only for hardcore drinkers, are now being released at a steady pace. Why?
I should note that I'm reviewing the newer 100% agave version of the reposado...not the old mixto version. The price was still right at $15 for the bottle, so I thought it was worth a try. We're still in a slow economy, right?
I kept seeing thi very old bottle sitting all alone on the shelf. I kept passing it by, but always eyeballed it because of the old state of the bottle and the $25 price tag. I eventually bought it and was delighted. It was a nice sipper, and worked well in an Old Fashioned. Had a nice essence of the barrel. hints of vanilla, pepper, and was earthy. The mom/pops store still has the tag, but has never gotten the product back in. I do see it in another mom/pop store locally, but they are selling it for $99. Hmmm. Don't think it's worth that much.
