When I first started moving towards craft/artisanal tequilas, Yéyo made my list early but due to challenges in finding it, it didn’t make my shelf. Then I finally found it and boy am I glad I did. Yeyo just fits me like a glove. When I got the email that Sip Tequila had some SiB Reposados available for pre-order, I jumped on the chance to get them. This is the Tropical, barrel 13. Tasted in a Glencarin. Nose is full of agave and vanilla. Nice and fruity and floral. I am getting some oak and some butterscotch. Hint of banana and pineapple. Taste is pleasant with plenty of agave and vanilla. As you would hope, there is a tropical fruit flavor. Baking spices and a touch of white pepper. I definitely recommend it. Creamy mouthfeel. A touch dry on the finish.
Bright nose with uncooked agave. Unique palate, a little subtle but not bad. It’s definitely different
Tropical #7 - Great Lakes Tequila Club pick with Royal Food & Liquor | Nice floral agave with a touch of vanilla on the nose, very welcoming. Don’t let the “tropical” name fool you, this is a balanced tequila with no one note overpowering. Flavors of cooked agave, vanilla, baking spice, and light fruit. Great tears that cling to the glass. An easy drinker that’s ready for summer!
This tequila is fantastic and totally worth it. Cast 4, Bottle 66. Nose: Strong notes of butterscotch. Agave, pineapple, citrus (orange and lemon), and a hint of vanilla. Taste: Orange, pineapple, coconut, butterscotch, and a touch of rum from the barrel. I love this expression!
Very tasty reposado! Being aged in rum barrels, add flavor without overpowering the agave flavor to create a unique complexity
Ufff what a great surprise. Last years barrel #9 from specs tropical barrel was disappointing for me but this year 2024 barrel #7 Great Lakes pick was extraordinary! Very complex profile with added depth from the tropical barrel. Nice raspy finish and burst of flavor.
Canadian Bev Collective import. Cask 9 Nose. White pepper. Saltines. Oak and agave. Mulled wine. (Christmas:) ) Taste. Cooked agave. Cinnamon hearts. Mild oak. White pepper. Dehydrated apples. Nice medium finish with a splash of pepper and dry.
Barrel #4 Tropical Ferment & Still, aroma sweet agave and citrus fruit. On the palate agave, fruit, vegetal, pepper. Let it rest a little and got light butterscotch. Really enjoyed this one.
Much more fruity than the Traditional Edition. This is Tropical Edition Barrel #13 from Sip Tequila. On the nose, I picked up agave with notes of fruit, banana, and some grass. Taste was cooked agave, banana, fruit and some honey.
Cask 2 Bottle 160 didn’t taste too much tropical flavors but it’s smooth and easy sipper.
Barrel 14 tropical
Bottle: Cask 13, Bottle 190, Sip Tequila Pick, YEYOREP2460 CASK 13 124 Appearance: Cornsilk Full review pending…
Aroma: crisp and sweet agave, coconut, pepper, tropical fruit Flavor: full agave, coconut, banana, pepper, flowers, apricot Long and warm finish. A unique repo. Fun to get to taste what they’re experimenting with over at Yeyo.
I had barrel 11 (Traditional) and 13 (Tropical) from Sip Tequila. The tasting notes I had for the two barrels are the opposite of what I thought it was going to be. The 11 was creamy, buttery, vanilla, baking spices, and toasted coconut. However,(comma) the traditional barrel gave more earthy, mineral, orange zest, and more agave. I favored the tropical pick for North Carolinas 2 barrels but we are still waiting on it.
tropical barrel #13
Nose : Alcohol , agave , floral , citrus ,lime baking spices Taste : Good mellow agave taste , baking spices , slight banana , slight brown sugar taste left a numbness on the finish . Didn’t get a lot of the “tropical notes” Lost points on value , due to high price for a repo would take other repos priced lower over this . This was the Great Lakes barrel club pick Cask 7 .
Tropical Barrels #2 and 6.
Barrel 13
2024 Tropical Barrel #2 (Score 88) Overall: Outstanding. Nose really jumps out. Mouth feel and finish are a home run. Nose: Cooked agave with light oak, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a hint of banana, melon, and caramelized sugar. I really dig the nose on Barrel #2. Taste: Tropical notes are subtle, still a great sip. Mellow sweet cooked agave, light oak and baking spices with a rum spice kick. A really good sip with a nice brown sugar sweetness that carries for a medium duration along with a nice spice note. 2024 Tropical Barrel #13 (Score 85) Overall:A good reposado, but not as sensational, complex, or as balanced as the tropical 2023. Nose: Delicate floral vanilla sweetness, light oak, and prominent cooked agave. A light almond note runs throughout with a backend brown sugar and baking spices. Enjoyable tequila forward nose, which is very much appreciated. Taste: Long legs and tears. Buttery and spicey on the entry. The heat immediately overpowers the flavor, so it is really challenging to appreciate the complexity of this offering. Cooked agave, baking spices, and a pepper - a bit disappointing. Finish: A dry, sweet bite rides below the bite of cinnamon spice.
Barrel 7 Great Lakes Tequila club barrel pick Aromas: agave, pineapple, banana, it smells very fruity Taste: agave, pepper, vegetal Finish: is peppery and soft The rum barrel presence is very noticeable and I like it
Tropical Barrel #1 Arizona This is an amazing reposado. You definitely get the tropical notes from the rum barrel. This is still very much a tequila as the cooked agave is front and center here. Nose: cooked agave, vanilla, citrus, tropical fruits, pineapple, banana, oak, and butterscotch. Palate: cooked agave, vanilla, citrus, tropical fruits, vegetal, pineapple, banana, and coconut. This is an absolutely amazing sipper with tons of tropical aromas and flavors.
2024 Tropical #7 SIB Great Lakes Tequila Club/Royal•59•La Azteca pick -This one is a very well balanced Reposado. Aromas I get bananas and pineapple, agave. The taste I have agave, tropical fruits, citrus, spices, a bit of pepper, butter. The rum barrels added a special DNA to this. Great pick for the summer.
Smell you get the rum notes, oak, spice like a carrot cake, sweetness like butterscotch and vanilla. Agave comes through Taste you get the rum - brown sugar, vanilla, barrel spice, allspice, with agave vegetal finish. Light pepper/not much pepper on the back end, it’s pretty smooth. Still delicate like the Yeyo blanco but thicker mouth feel If this were $50 it’s a home run
Light and coconuty. I'd like to rate it higher but don't want to overhype this tequila. For $60 and single cask this is exceptional. I'm going to pick up another bottle.

Nose: agave sweet (cooked) / caramel/ vanilla/ pineapple/ grapefruit/ coconut/ tea/ nutmeg/ chocolate/ maple/ Taste: agave cooked sweet / vanilla/ cinnamon/ melon/ banana/ coconut/ citrus/ tea / mint / nutmeg/ chocolate/ maple / Finish: sweet agave, fruit flavors and coconut linger on a nice smooth and clean slightly minty finish This reposado has had quite a good time playing with some unique processes and barrels to create an actual tropical flavor inspired expression. It’s very nice.
