Tasting this from Mike Bucca's collection. Interesting reposado that has some bitterness and a short finish holding it back from a higher score.

Mexican 38% abv. versión, Cosecha: La Copalera 2005, if this was the agave harvest date and not the agave planting date, what were they waiting for to release it? Because the marbete is from 2012! Tasted on 4-8-24. Color: yellow. Aroma: light cooked agave, hint of raw agave, hint of vanilla, slightly earthy, light wood note, light acidity, hint of dirt. Slightly minty, hint of black pepper. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, however sourness slightly dominates palate and ends slightly bitter, wood note is quite dominating. Finish is medium to medium long, hint of raw agave, hint of vanilla, hint of earthiness and dominating wood notes persist.

Got it as a birthday gift and didn’t expect much due to the limited selection of tequilas in my country. But I was very surprised by the high quality of this one. The smell has a little smoky mixture with vanilla and a small hint of caramel if you really look for it.
