I'm really blown away by this $15 bottle! A 100% agave that is great for sipping or mixing and can easily best competitors selling for twice as much. A bright flavor of agave with a citrus back. Lowlands agave cooked in autoclaves, double distilled in stainless steel pot stills.

NOM 1522 | Marbete is from 2019, but it is glued at the corner of the bottle and thus can’t scan the QR code, printed code on one side of the bottle: L UAMB 12, acquired on November 2022. Aroma: slightly sweet and herbaceous agave, feels slightly oily but at times it has a light flint aroma after striking a lighter which after 20 minutes in the glass disappears, minerals, a touch of lactic note, slightly minty & fresh. Palate: slightly sweet & herbaceous agave, light black pepper spiciness, medium to full body, mineral, at the end agave notes become greener and not as sweet as the beginning. Finish is medium to medium long, raw agave notes persist.

NOM 1522 | This was served cold, so there wasn't much aroma. Alcohol, wood shavings and plastic in the nose. Lite complexity. Sweet agave, musty and citrus in the mouth. Mint, pepper and wet cement on the finish. Tasted like additives?

Not a sipping tequila but has a decent agave character that is sweet and makes a strong presence. Rough finish. Goes great in cocktails.

Review #267 - El Ultimo Agave Tequila Blanco

For the price, this is a must try for veteran tequila drinkers or those just getting into the game. It is the most commonly lauded value brand of 100% agave tequila by tequila drinkers that I talk to.
