The Reposado uses champagne yeast unlike the 2 unaged products which use ambient yeast and is aged around 5 months in MM barrels as is the Añejo. Some caramel and cinnamon initially with some hints of vanilla and oak from the barrel, this has nicely integrated flavor carried by the ethanol.

Nose. Vibrant, robust baking spices and fruitiness. A sharp mineral nose tingle. Smoky, silky vanilla. Delicate hint of creamy butterscotch. Fresh barrel oak and warm citrus notes. Flavor: Fruit, spice and mouth filling zing. Salinity and poblano heat. Restrained and polished barrel influence. The edgy, Guanajuato agaves are the center stage star. A touch of wild funk. Sweet and savory harmony. (I’m told the ART levels for these family grown agaves from Romita were off the charts.) Medium long finish brings buttercream nuttiness in play. A sleeper brand.

Sweet agave and plenty of spices (cinnamon, etc.). Light color and delicious Reposado. A little pricey.

This one is good, but a disappointment after the sensational Blanco. Tasted at QDJ with Charlie. Maybe it’s the Guanajuato Earth playing with the barrel notes but there’s some interesting aromas that I’m not into. The aroma smells like there’s something burnt or cough syrup in it. The taste is not bad. There’s some good heat and flavor. But I’m still left with some of those funky flavors. Rereading my review it sounds like I did not like it. That’s not true, I liked it. I just kept trying to figure out the rather interesting, aromas and flavors going on. Overall this is a good Tequila.

LOT: 300523RA First of all I have to start by saying that this is a spectacular bottle. It is not, as in most cases, a generic bottle, but rather it is a bottle that this distillery had made for its products. The lid is made of some heavy metal, it could be some copper alloy and it fits perfectly, almost magnetically, with the bottle. On the label is the image of Hegel, an XVIII century German idealist philosopher. The text and the box are meticulously cared for, it is a well thought out development as an ultra premium product and it shows. El Ateo is made in Arandas Jalisco, but the agave is from Romita Guanajuato, bordering the designation of origin allowed by the CRT. View: a very light yellow, pale straw. The tears are consistent with a 40º. Freshly served: Smell: the aroma of wood is clearly distinguished, followed by cooked agave, minerality, black pepper. Taste: I notice a slight astringency of the wood, a vanilla tone but undoubtedly natural, I do not detect additives. Sweet and herbal. Aftertaste is mannered and a little citrusy, like grapefruit. I mix it and let it rest for 15 minutes. Smell: It opens and it seems to me that the main thing to distinguish is that the wood changes from being the main aroma to being herbaceous. However, the wood continues there and I can distinguish a bit of its astringency. I detect a bit of sweetness that wasn't there previously. Taste: The sweetness is expressed much more and is much more evident, now it is even difficult for me to detect the wood behind the sweetness but it is there with a vanilla tone, the minerality and herbaceousness is still there but as secondary and I detect a citric aftertaste, something like lemon, also in the aftertaste I detect wood astringency but in a balanced and pleasant way.

Last pour of a bottle, and may have been exposed to too much air. Will revisit when and if I get a fresh bottle.

On the nose, sweet roasted agave, orange, light, oak, vanilla, a touch of light, baking, spices, Coco, and coffee. On the pallet, roasted agave, Coco, coffee, cinnamon, orange, pepper, a slight corn tortilla taste. Enjoyed the long finish.

Absolutely amazing reposado. Look for underlying coconut flavor. If this doesnt make you want to hit the beach I dont know what to tell you. Really enjoyed this repo.
