Signature Tequileño nose. That volcanic water. Little bit of barreling. It’s a bright nose. Palate is subtle finish is easy with pepper on the finish. Easy sipper but not a lot going on. Nice pepper finish that lingers. Purchased on sale for 33.99

Great Reposado, keeps its pedigree of great Tequila by maintaining an agave presence from start to finish. This profiles like an Ocho product, that is high praise for any brand.

the price brought my rating down a tad.

Not a balanced expression compared to other tequileño products. Oak presence overpowers the agave essence. I can see whiskey people loving this

For me, the curbside appeal is better than the bones. Aroma is oak, sweet, cooked agave, a little cheese, baking spices. I absolutely love the smell. After that, it's a really good tequila. Taste is heavily influenced by the French oak. I'm really curious how this would change if the agave were cooked low and slow. I believe the HP autoclave was an unfortunate shortcut. I'll definitely drink more, but believe it fell short of its potential. It loses points on value, as I feel it's a bit overpriced.

Amazing aroma! Great oaky taste, peaty but not overpowering. Price is just a killer for me tho. At $110 msrp there’s a lot of other options in my opinion.

ABV 42%. Unique Double Barreling: 2 years in American oak barrels, then 4 more months in French Oak. Nary a Sassenach Scotch barrel, nor any Scotch barrel in the mix! But innovative idea producing an unique profile - Personal tastes will prevail… Nose: Fruity. Fresh cherries, dried cherries. Light vanilla and citrus. Aromatic scents of oak. Flinty limestone. A little spritzy pizzazz to the nose. Flavors: Sweet fruitiness. Bold heat element: course ground black pepper with hints of cinnamon. Rich wood tones with some underlying caramel notes. Finish: Lots of wood and lingering heat on the fade, and some harsher wood tones. A big shout out to Doug Price for muling this down to me!

Nose: Autoclave agave, earthy oak barrels, floral sweetness. It’s dry Taste: Dry oak and obvious French oak sweetness with an agave backbone. Tangy sweet peppery finish with more oak It’s slightly overpriced like many celebrity offerings.

Purchased online for USD99. A bit high for a reposado. Maybe a bit high for a specialty reposado, but this aged for 2 years in American oak and then 4 months more in French oak. The collaboration with Sassenach is in name only, to my knowledge, as no Sassenach barrels were used in aging this tequila. Perhaps, one day such a product will exist. Will revisit to add further tasting notes.

Light floral aromas, much bolder flavor. Tasting oak, barrel spice, hay, dandelion… this one is like nothing else.

Aromas of light scotch, melted sugar followed by agave, wood and dandelion. Flavor is pure scotch. In first 3 seconds, you would swear it was scotch. Once that dissipates, there's wood, agave, more scotch notes with sweet butterscotch and light caramel. A very interesting and different take without being overwoody or as woody as the process would lead you to believe. A keeper!

A contender for my favorite El Tequileño bottle. All around great. The taste is really wonderful. Tasted at the El Tequileño tasting room.

Unfortunately this tequila has lost most of its agave profile and taken on the characteristics of the barrel. Very heavy oak and pepper tones. Some vanilla and caramel. For a reposado it drinks more like an extra Anejo.

This is a total failure. Taking something as precious as the agave and turning it into an unrecognizable concoction. I do taste caramel, vanilla, oak and an overwhelming whisky flavor. ZERO agave. What a shame. I can’t believe anyone that like tequila would give this anything higher than a 75. This being said, if you are a scotch drinker looking to try tequilas, this is your bottle, but if you live the pure expression of agave and local water supply and perfect distillation, this is not it.

The oak influenced flavors and aromas are just right, as it drinks more like a restrained Añejo, along the lines that something from Tequila Ocho would be. I found it on sale and it tasted like it was a steal for the price! I’m definitely buying another bottle. My favorite expression of El Tequileño so far.

My 2nd impression was a good one. Poured and walked away for 15 min or so. Plenty of agave & oak aromas with a little citrus. Fantastic oily mouth feel! Flavors of agave & spice with slight vanilla transitioning to long peppery finish.

Aroma: center stage is black licorice accompanied by whiskey, anise, agave that is overpowered by the whiskey, light ethyl with no nasal burn, light oak and caramel with cream soda. The palate: overpowering sharp whiskey, black licorice, anise, oak, caramel, agave, Cadillac pepperiness (due to whiskey barrel influence), pear, minute brine, freshness, and some tang. Finish: is low profile fading whiskey, yeast, slight minerality and exiting freshness.

Under 40 this is an excellent bottle to stock up. Delicious, nothing in this price range can match up.

First, how is this a Reposado? It is aged 2 years and 4 months. 2 years in American oak and 4 months in French oak. A little weak on the aroma, heavy agave with a lot of spice and then finishes beautifully but there is a hint of additive on that finish. I might buy again but there are so many good choices for less money. 1146 and Don Fulano come to mind as a less expensive option. Still I am enjoying it.

Tons of cooked agave. Smokey. Earthy. Oak. Astringency. Black pepper.
